Ya know I kinda wish we got an answer for what exactly drove him so crazy he bears the scars even as a ghost, but I feel like no answer would've met expectations.
Apparently, he was already suffering from mental illness before he went insane from the knowledge of their impending doom but if I had to guess he probably did what sollux did to move the meteor to save his friends and resulted in him fully bein brain damaged.
