I really need to get around to reading the works of Verne. While many of his story elements are more on the fantastical side, his insight to the progression of technology and work in popularizing science fiction cannot be overstated.

It might sound silly, but my favorite detail is the red tower lights just barely visible off in the distance.

I remember once driving down the road in the sticks of South Florida, just enough light emanating from my headlights to help me see the outline of clouds in the dark sky, and the ping of red high atop the radio towers in the distance. It was dark as hell, not exactly cozy, but staring up at the sky... it was strangely beautiful...

So yeah thanks for the memories.
